Custody, fees and balances
Relay is custodial: it operates the wallets that collect and hold creator fees and keeps an account for each recipient until they withdraw. This page explains exactly what that means.
How fees are collected
- Each token has its own Relay collection address, set as the launchpad’s fee destination and verified on chain before the token is listed. Routing is checked again over time.
- Creator fees first accumulate inside the launchpad. Relay collects them into its custody and records each transfer only once it is final on chain. Fees still inside the launchpad are shown as awaiting collection and are not part of anyone’s balance yet.
- Every receipt is recorded once, even if it is seen again after a restart, and the ledger is reconciled against what the wallets actually hold.
Your balances
- Collected / earned
- Everything credited to you so far, per asset.
- Available
- What you can withdraw now.
- Reserved
- Set aside for a withdrawal in progress. It cannot be spent twice; if the withdrawal fails or is returned, it comes back to your available balance.
- Held
- Credited to you but not withdrawable yet (for example a token Relay cannot pay out, or a balance under review).
Each asset is a separate balance: SOL, ETH on Robinhood Chain, and USDC (on Solana or Base) when a withdrawal or a return left you with USDC. Your balance stays in the asset your fees arrived in until you withdraw. Dollar figures shown for crypto balances are estimates and are labelled that way.
Who holds the money
Relay controls the collection addresses and the settlement wallets that hold collected fees. You do not hold keys, and you do not need a crypto wallet: you can withdraw to a personal bank account, or to your own wallet if you have one.
This is not a trustless protocol
What it protects against
- Someone posing as you. Earnings are tied to your X account’s permanent id, not its handle.
- Swapped records. Bank details are encrypted and kept as versioned records. Each withdrawal is tied to the exact details you approved with your passkey, so a changed record cannot be slipped into it.
- Paying twice. A withdrawal reserves its amount before anything moves and carries a one-time key, so the same request cannot be paid out twice.
- A stolen sign-in. With only your X session someone can see your earnings, but cannot change bank details or withdraw without your passkey.
What Relay charges
Relay takes no platform fee from withdrawals today (0%). Costs that reduce what you receive (conversion and our bank payout partner’s fees) are shown before you confirm, separately from costs Relay covers (such as network fees). See costs and minimums.
