Launching and registering tokens
Relay works with two launchpads on two chains. You can launch a new token through Relay, or register a token that already exists, as long as you control it.
Supported chains and launchpads
- pump.fun · Solana
- New launches (the launchpad’s current token standard) and registration of existing pump.fun tokens, before or after they graduate to the PumpSwap pool. Fees arrive in SOL.
- Pons · Robinhood Chain
- New launches on Pons V2 and registration of existing Pons V2 tokens. Fees arrive in ETH on Robinhood Chain (or in the pool’s other token when it is not ETH; such balances are shown as held until they can be paid out).
Relay does not deploy its own contracts or programs. Tokens are created by the launchpads themselves; Relay only sets their fee destination and verifies it.
Launching a token
- Sign in with X and open Launch a token. Choose pump.fun or Pons.
- Enter the recipient’s X handle. Relay looks the account up and stores its permanent X id, not the handle.
- Add the token’s name, ticker, image and description (pump.fun allows names up to 32 bytes and tickers up to 13). On pump.fun you may add an optional first buy.
- Review: recipient, fee routing, and every cost the launch transaction will spend from your wallet.
- Approve in your wallet (Phantom or another Solana wallet for pump.fun; an EVM wallet for Pons). Your wallet pays the launchpad’s fees and network fees.
- Relay verifies the finalized transaction and the fee destination on chain, then the token page goes live.
If something goes wrong
Relay checks the launch transaction before your wallet sees it; a launch that would fail is never offered for signing. If your wallet declines, nothing is sent. If a transaction was sent but is not confirmed yet, the status page waits and checks the chain before letting you try again, so the same token is never launched twice.
Registering an existing token
If you control a token’s creator fees today, you can redirect them to a Relay collection address and name a recipient.
- pump.fun: you sign a one-time fee-sharing setup that sends 100% of the creator fees to the token’s Relay collection address. pump.fun makes this setup final: it cannot be changed afterwards by anyone.
- Pons V2: the current creator-fee recipient transfers the recipient role to the Relay collection address (and turns off buybacks first if they are on). Relay checks the routing regularly and warns on the token page if it changes.
Before any wallet is connected, the Register page shows what the launchpad reports about the token and whether it can be registered. You then sign a short proof that you control it, and send the launchpad’s redirect transaction(s).
The recipient: what can and cannot change
- Each token has exactly one recipient: the X account named when it was activated. It cannot be changed later through Relay.
- The recipient is tied to the X account’s permanent id. If they change their handle, the fees stay with them; if someone else later takes their old handle, they get nothing.
- Fees already collected stay credited to the recipient even if a token’s routing is later lost (for example a Pons protocol override). The token page says when routing is lost.
- Unclaimed balances never expire into Relay’s revenue.
